Pupil - Call 2016
Sam joined New Court as a pupil in October 2017. Prior to pupillage he worked for four-and-a-half years as a family law paralegal in Local Authority legal teams in the South of England, assisting primarily with part IV Children Act matters and local authority involvement in private family proceedings.
Sam’s final year as a paralegal was spent attached to a county’s complex cases team, which handled serious and complex public family law cases but also local authority involvement in appeal cases, judicial reviews, Wardship matters, HRA 1998 damages claims, and cases involving an element of reputational or financial risk. Sam’s work for the complex case team involved case management hearing advocacy.
