Dr Giuseppe Calà (SC) has been a Member of Chambers since 1985; he was elected as head of New Court Chambers in July 2004. He specialises in Private International law disputes related to family matters and all aspects of Italian Civil Law, including child abductions (Hague Convention), Inheritance disputes, questions of choice of jurisdictions in family matters according to the EEC Regulations. He also specialises in Matrimonial Matters governed by the rules of the Roman Catholic Ecclesiastical Laws and has right of Audience before the Supreme Court of Cassation in Rome and before the Roman Catholic Ecclesiastical Courts.

Dr Calà has been admitted to plead as well before the Ecclesiastical Courts (Roman Catholic Jurisdictions) (Vatican) in 1970 and before the Italian Courts in 1971.
Relevant Experience
Dr Giuseppe Calà has relevant experience in family proceedings in the Italian and English Courts, the European Court in Luxembourg and in the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. He appears before the Ecclesiastical Courts of the Roman Catholic Jurisdiction (Vatican) in matrimonial matters.
Appointments
Dr Giuseppe Calà was appointed by the former Italian Minister of Justice Mr. Castelli as Member of the Italian Government Law Commission at the Ministry of Justice for the reform of the Italian Code of Civil Procedure (2002-2003).
At present he is a part-time lecturer at the University of Macerata (Italy) in Ecclesiastical Comparative Law, the Masters Course in Family Law and Family Mediation and a part-time lecturer in Private International Law and Principles of English Law on the Italian Bar Vocational Course of the Rome Civil Law Chamber.
