Jay specialises in family law including public and private children law, ancillary relief, TLATA, Schedule 1 matters and injunctions. Jay's main focus is on the law relating to children, particularly representation of parties in care proceedings.
Jay regularly appears at all levels of first instance tribunal including the Family Proceedings Court, County Court and the High Court.
Jay is particularly experienced in appellate work and the associated drafting.
Jay also deals with public interest immunity and disclosure matters in the Crown Court.
Public law
Within public law children matters Jay represents Local Authorities, parents and wider family members as well as children and Guardians.
Jay has experience of cases involving very serious non-accidental injuries.
Jay is frequently instructed in matters involving concurrent criminal proceedings including murder, attempted murder, child trafficking and physical and sexual abuse.
Jay also has extensive experience of cases involving chronic neglect, domestic violence, drug and alcohol issues and parents with mental health issues.

Jay's private law cases often involve a public law element and 9(5) Guardians and frequently deal with similar issues to his public law practice.
Financial work
Jay's has experience of ancillary relief matters involving assets outside the jurisdiction, non-disclosure of assets and freezing injunctions. Jay also has experience of Schedule 1 and TLATA matters.
