Practice Profile
Matthew joined chambers as a tenant in 2011 and practices in all areas of family law and at all levels of tribunal up to and including the High Court. He is a skilled advocate with a broad experience of conducting trials in the Family, Criminal and Civil courts from his time as a pupil at Exchange Chambers, Liverpool. Matthew had the benefit of working with very senior ancillary relief and children law specialists as a pupil and he has considerable experience drafting documents for court including complex schedules of assets, skeleton arguments, questionnaires and position statements.
Matthew prides himself on delivering the highest level of client care and is able to deal effectively and sensitively with different kinds of clients. He has worked, for example, with the victims of domestic abuse as a volunteer with the National Centre for Domestic Violence and is well equipped to understand and meet the needs of his instructing solicitors having previously been employed as a legal secretary.
Matthew enjoys working in all areas of family law, including public law, private law, injunctions and ancillary relief. His particular areas of expertise/interest include disagreements between cohabitees, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, internal relocation and domestic violence.
Matthew also previously undertook regular work for the DWP including providing advocacy and witness skills training to their staff.

Matthew is a regular basketball player and cyclist and he is a big film fan. He also enjoys music, theatre and photography.
