About New Court Chambers

New Court Chambers New Court Chambers was founded in 1981 by Her Honour Judge Christian Bevington and was initially located at Cloister – Pump Court in the Temple. In 1997 due to a substantial increase of the members, Chambers moved to larger premises and we are at present practising from New Court in the Temple, a 17th Century building dating back to 1667. Although New Court Chambers initially covered a large spectrum of Common Law matters, it was resolved in 2004 that Chambers would be mainly a Family Specialist set dealing in domestic and international family matters ranging from Child Care, Divorce, Ancillary relief, family provisions, Inheritance and Reciprocal enforcement, Child Abductions and matters involving Italian Family law and European Family law. Professional clients include Local Authorities, Guardian and litem and Solicitors acting on behalf of Parents in both public and private law proceedings. Dr. Giuseppe Calà, our Head of Chambers since 1997, specialises in International private law, European law and Italian family and civil law matters arising in family disputes. Since 1985 New Court Chambers has a close association with the Italian Chambers of Dr. Giuseppe Calà in Rome and Milan, which are official annexes to New Court Chambers. We are the first, and we believe, the only Chambers in England to have annexes in Rome and in Milan. The Members of our Italian Annexes specialise in Italian Family Law and in General Civil Law and include an Accredited Family Mediator.

New Court Chambers uses the latest integrated IT and Telecommunications Technology. All members are linked via intranet with the Chambers Clerk and we take pride in turning around instructions in 14 working days. New Court Chambers and its barristers are regulated by the Bar Council and are subject to the rules set out in the Code of Conduct of the Bar of England and Wales.
