Meena joined Chambers in October 2020 as a third six pupil having completed her pupillage at a common law set. She has been regularly instructed to defend and prosecute in criminal cases as well as in public law children matters. Meena also has experience in representing children in the Youth Court.
Prior to practicing at the Bar, Meena was an employed case worker in the childcare department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors.
During this time Meena assisted on a wide range of complex children matters before the High Court and the Court of Appeal, including A Local Authority v X and others [2018] EWHC 874 (Fam) and Re X (A Child)(FGMPO) [2018] EWCA Civ 1825.
She also volunteered with Chrysalis Women’s Aid to assist domestic violence victims in obtaining occupation and non-molestation orders.
Meena has a keen interest in Human Rights. In September 2018, Meena was invited by an NGO to attend an event entitled ‘Obstacles to the Right of Self-Determination’ on the 39th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. The event was conducted by the International Human Rights Association of American Minorities in collaboration with the International Commission for Human Rights (ICHR).
