Background
New Court Chambers -

Christopher Poole appointed King’s Counsel

Chambers is delighted to announce that Christopher Poole, Joint Head of Chambers, has been formally appointed King’s Counsel.

Chris completed his pupillage at New Court and has been a valued and integral member of Chambers ever since. In 2015, he was appointed Joint Head of Chambers, a role in which he has provided exemplary leadership, guidance, and commitment to the continued success and development of Chambers.

Joint Head of Chambers Giles Bain said: “Chris has never needed the title of Silk to demonstrate his leadership and outstanding advocacy, but this appointment is a fitting recognition of all that he contributes to Chambers. He has long shown himself to be more than worthy of this honour, combining exceptional professional standards with a consistent humility and integrity. We are confident he will continue to embody those qualities, remaining true to his values while strengthening those around him.”

Chris is widely recognised for his expertise in public law, receiving instructions predominantly from Local Authorities and Guardians. His practice encompasses a broad range of complex and sensitive matters, including Children Act proceedings, adoption, wardship, and cases involving the court’s inherent jurisdiction. He has developed a particular specialism in cases concerning findings of serious physical and other forms of abuse, where his forensic skill and measured advocacy are especially valued.

In addition to his practice, Chris makes a significant contribution to the wider legal community. He was elected a Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn in 2025 and is actively involved in the training and development of future advocates as an advocacy trainer at the Inn and a dedicated pupil supervisor. He regularly delivers seminars to solicitors and social workers and has undertaken a number of independent case reviews for Local Authorities.

All members of Chambers are immensely proud of Chris on this well-deserved appointment. His elevation to Silk is a reflection of his exceptional legal ability and tireless work ethic.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Chris on this outstanding achievement.

New Court Chambers has forged its reputation on a commitment to provide consistently high standards of advice, representation and clerking services.
